What We Need
  • Recommendations on both styles of recruiting (active vs. passive) and proper channels to pursue candidates
  • Guidelines for hiring process, including order and number of interview rounds, reference checks, and general best practices for an inclusive interview
  • Effective interviewing techniques and clear, consistent standards for evaluating candidates
  • Tips for negotiating details such as compensation package and title

We want to make sure our hiring practices are equitable and attract a diverse pool of candidates.

  • Unlimited time with the Food Club's Executive Director (HR staffer of the Food Club).

    Current job postings and interview procedures.
How This Will Help
This project will save us $5,776 , allowing us to provide a week of food to nearly 100 families.

We want to expand our team but are struggling to attract a diverse pool of candidates that have the skills we need. We are also struggling to describe the unique role we are looking to hire.

Project Plan

Prep: Information Sharing
  • Volunteer Manager shares current or past job descriptions used, as well as relevant materials such as internal policies and procedures already in place
Milestone 1: Audit of Existing Policies
  • Professional and Volunteer Manager meet to discuss current hiring processes, including how candidates are found, interviewing principles, hiring steps normally taken, and overall hiring philosophy
Milestone 2: Analysis & Recommendations
  • Professional identifies key areas of improvement, and recommends ways to improve current processes
  • Volunteer Manager provides feedback to Professional
Milestone 3: Draft Hiring Strategy
  • Professional drafts strategy, which thoughtfully lays out all areas of the recruiting process
  • Strategy should include guidelines and actionable steps to implement recommendations
  • Volunteer Manager provides any feedback, which Professional incorporates into final draft
Milestone 4: Draft Job Descriptions & Recommendations for Hiring Channels
  • Professional drafts up a job description template the Organization can use
  • Professional recommends appropriate hiring channels for the Organization based on budget, and assists in any setup necessary to list job descriptions
